Kouga Windfarm EIA
Location: The proposed wind energy farm sites are situated within the Kouga Local Municipality. The land acquired is all private owned farms that have been identified from wind monitoring data as prime spots for wind energy generation. The farms in question are:

Project background/overview: The size of the Kouga wind farm is expected to be between 150 and 300 MW and will comprise of approximately 50 to 150 by 2.0 to 3.0 MW wind turbines, with 80 to 100 m hub height and 40 to 50 m turbine blade lengths. The wind power farm will span several properties, some of which are adjacent or connected to each other.
Application for environmental authorisation is made to undertake the following listed activities: GN No. R386 14 (a)(i)(ii), 15; and GN No. R387 1 (a)(i)(ii), (b), 2. In terms of the EIA Regulations, an application of this nature has to undergo both Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment.
