The Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa proposes to develop an Integrated Energy Centre (IeC) in Redoubt on behalf of the local Mnyaka community. The project area is located approximately 15Km east of Bizana Town in the Eastern Cape.
The proposed development will consist of an energy shop, education training centre/ library, car wash facility, undercover informal trading area, a fuel filling station and nodes for future development. Once constructed the operation of the IeC would be handed over and managed by a community elected cooperative, under the guidance and assistance of the Department of Mineral and Energy (DME) and PetroSA when requested.
PetroSA, as the project proponent, has appointed Arcus GIBB (Pty) Ltd (Arcus GIBB) as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed construction of the IeC.
This document constitutes the Draft Amended Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) which details the findings of the assessment phase of the project which focused on investigating environmental potential impacts and alternatives identified during the Scoping Phase of the EIA
